What we learn about Lia could have been told in one chapter easily.
All of which we learned about in the first book.
The continuing fight between Adrian and the Russians. The story leading up to chapter 20 was nothing but repetition. At that point the story began where I was hoping it would have started in the first chapter, picking up where the story left off in VOD. I didn't find myself invested until I hit chapter 20. With the exception of a couple of chapters on the back story of Lia, I had absolutely no interest whatsoever and kept waiting for something to happen. I so LOVED the first book, Vow of Deception, and couldn't fathom the follow-up being anything less than stellar.īut.I'm sitting here writing my review and I feel pretty crappy about the book as a whole. I was so excited to get into this book this morning, I sat down and powered through in one sitting. All thoughts & opinions are my own.** Mostly lacking an engaging follow up to Vow of Deception. I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Rina Kent does it so well and is able to add plenty of steam into the mix to make a book that has everything you could want. I sometimes find it hard to believe how well some authors can end up merging many different story arcs to end up flowing so well into one conclusion that melds them all together seamlessly. She is a ballerina so she is small, thin and delicate compared to his tall muscular stature, but she is strong willed and smart. She shows that she is not about to let him trample over her. Many came out of left field and I do love when a book is not predictable.Īdrian is a bit overbearing in this book but I like how Lia fights back when he is that way about something important to her. This book had some huge reveals as usual in Rina Kent books. I like it when we get to hear the innermost thoughts of both of the main characters, especially during love scenes. This was the steamiest book so far and I love that some of the intimate scenes are told from Adrian’s point of view. It has flashbacks to both Adrian and Lia’s childhoods, but begins just prior to their first meeting. The Love Story: This book goes back to the beginning, before Winter became Lia. He has a network of hackers and spies that can get him all the information he needs on his enemies, his partners and also on Lia.
He is in the information business for the Mafia. He is ruthless and immoral and can’t seem to keep his mind off Lia. Lia saw him commit murder and is afraid of him. The Hero(es): Adrian – He is a Bratva King and answers only to Sergio, the Pakhan. She was a ballerina prior to marrying Adrian. She has nightmares of being trapped in a small dark place and she can’t seem to overcome her past. She somehow lost her memory and became a different person.
